Hello, readers and listeners! It has been quite some time since my last post. Sorry about that, folks! I'm coming back strong though with music from a band that has been dominating my speakers for the last week. I heard about the Ruen Brothers (yes, they're actually brothers!) while I was listening to WXPN 88.5 FM in the car. The Ruen Brothers' song All My Shades of Blue came on and I immediately dug it! I also had the chance to catch their FB LIVE session on WNYC New Sounds. Their sound is a great mix of early rock, vintage pop, and country. Usually, I'm hesitant to listen to artists who just outright copy a specific sound of an artist or genre. However, the Ruen Brothers do a fantastic job of paying homage to their favorite types of music, while using their songwriting abilities and own style to make it their own. Their debut album is out now! The vinyl version is at the top of my vinyl wish list. Take a listen!
